Chickenpox which is also known as varicella is a highly contagious disease. Chickenpox spreads through air droplets. Chickenpox is a viral infection which is caused by the varicella-zoster virus (VZV). The modes by which the chickenpox virus can spread are by breathing in the same air like that of an infected person or when contact with blisters occurs. The contagious period of chickenpox lasts for a few weeks. In addition to being highly contagious, getting infected with chickenpox can create a lot of physical discomforts. Some of the common Signs And Symptoms Of Chickenpox include:

  • Fluid-filled vesicles that are pink or red, Blister-like rashes
  • Itching, persistent Fever, Tiredness, fatigue
  • Headache and Loss of appetite

Risk Factors For Chickenpox

For those individuals who have not been vaccinated for chickenpox or have not been infected earlier, the presence of a weakened immune system due to an immune disorder or medications such as chemotherapy increases the risk of getting chickenpox. The most commonly occurring complication of chickenpox is a secondary bacterial infection of the chickenpox lesions. These conditions result in various skin infections like impetigo, furunculosis, cellulitis, and erysipelas. It may also cause infection of lymph nodes known as lymphadenitis. If the bacteria spread into the bloodstream, it can lead to a condition called bacteremia. The presence of bacteremia increases the risk of developing bacterial pneumonia. Also, various conditions like meningitis, arthritis, osteomyelitis, and sepsis may occur. The most serious neurological complication associated with chickenpox is called acute cerebellar ataxia. This condition may manifest in the form of fever, irritability, difficulty in walking, and speech impairment.

  • Aloe Vera 

The main action of Aloe vera gel is that it soothes and cools the inflamed area. It provides relief from itchy skin during chickenpox. Using aloe Vera helps in moisturizing the skin. Because of its anti-inflammatory properties, aloe Vera reduces itching. 

  • Baking Soda Bath
