Studies show that some unhealthy lifestyle activities have a profound effect in crippling the immune system such as excessive intake of sugar and carbs, lack of proper sleep, drinking tap water that is unfiltered, remaining indoors without exposure to the sun, and chronic dehydration.

High sugar and carb intake 

Studies show that excessive consumption of highly loaded sugar and carbs in the diet have a weakening effect on the immune system. It is a known fact that white blood cells need vitamin C to effectively carrying out proper body functions. Since sugar and vitamin C are similar in structure, they both can vie for the possibility of entering the cells at the site of the Glut -1 receptor. In such a scenario, glucose is more preferred above vitamin C and thus it negatively impacts the immune response. 

Regular intake of foods that are rich in sugar may also contribute to various infections such as candida along with causing a loss in essential nutrients such as vitamin C, glutathione, and also zinc. This proves that such individuals who prefer a diet rich in sugars should also consume adequate immune boosters to ensure optimal immune response.

Vitamin D3

The main function of beta-glucan is to combine white blood cells and help in their functioning by facilitating immune coordination. Beta-glucans, which are a type of polysaccharides, can promote the functioning of T cells, macrophages, natural killer (NK) cells as well as cytokines like interleukin 1 and 2.
