What is muscle strength?

By definition, muscle strength is the amount of force a muscle can produce with a single maximal effort. In simpler terms, it refers to one's ability to easily move or lift objects. A number of strength and resistance training or exercises can help develop your muscle and strength such as

  • Weightlifting

  • Hiking

  • Body weight exercises

  • Cycling

  • Tai chi etc.

Exercises that make your muscles stronger

Other than the common strength and resistance training including hiking, weightlifting you can also try these muscles strengthening exercises.

Squat: Start by pushing your hips back as far as you can and keeping your lower back arched with your hips bent. Then, bend your knees and squat low.

Jumping jacks: Begin by jumping to a position with both your arms spread open and above and legs spread wide apart. And then coming back to your original position.

Push ups: Lie horizontally with your chest facing the ground and raise and lower your arms by going back and forth.

Planks: Maintain the push-up position by resting the whole weight of your body on your forearms and toes.

Lunges: Position your body in such a way that one leg is positioned forward with knee bent and foot flat on the ground while the other leg is positioned behind.

Foods for muscle building

Protein is best for building muscles and burning fat. You can find high protein content in the following food items:

  • Eggs

  • Meat

  • Fish
