Nutrition Made Simple

L-arginine is a chemical essential building block called "an amino acid." It is obtained from the diet and is necessary for the body to make proteins. L-arginine is found in red meat, poultry, fish, and dairy products.

L-Arginine supports cardiovascular health and enhances blood flow. Daily use of this supplement helps keep the arteries clean, bring flexibility to the walls of the arteries and reduce blood pressure. L–Arginine is considered an essential amino acid. L-arginine shows anti-atherogenic actions that may be accounted for by its role as the precursor to nitric oxide or NO. NO is produced by all tissues of the body and plays very important roles in the cardiovascular system, immune system and nervous system.

L-arginine can boost the activity of a particular type of immune cells, so called T cells, new research indicates. When the levels of L-arginine have increased the metabolism of these cells is reorganized and the cells survive longer and are more effective in fighting tumors.

Arginine is used to make proteins in the body including muscle. Arginine may turn on the muscle building process similar to leucine. While muscle mass increases, arginine signals to muscle cells to release a growth hormone and insulin, which promotes fat metabolism and improves energy levels and cognitive abilities. This could lead to toned and lean muscle mass. By reducing the fat stores underneath the skin and promoting muscle growth, Arginine can improve muscle strength. Increased strength through building muscle mass is not the only benefit. By serving as a precursor for nitric oxide, Arginine promotes endurance and muscle conditioning.

Improves cardiovascular functions

L-arginine has gotten lots of attention lately for its potential heart benefits. In the body, arginine converts into nitric oxide (NO). Nitric oxide is a powerful neurotransmitter that helps blood vessels relax and also improves circulation. Arginine may help improve blood flow in the arteries of the heart that may improve symptoms of clogged arteries, chest pain or angina, and coronary artery disease.

    Improves immune system

T cells play crucial roles in the immune defense against viruses, and bacteria. Orally administered L-arginine participates in the remodeling of T cells with a higher survival capacity and better effectiveness against tumors. Arginine stimulates T cell and natural killer cell activity and promotes the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.

      Build body mass

L-arginine signals to muscle cells to release a growth hormone and insulin, which promotes fat metabolism and improves energy levels and cognitive abilities. This leads to lean and toned muscle mass. Arginine acts as a precursor of nitric oxide which is a potent vasodilator that can increase the blood flow in muscle tissue and increases endurance and stamina.
