Nutrition Made Simple

April 09 2021

We’re sure many of you are fed up with trying to untangle those frizzy knots of hair or giving it a good brush without shedding more than 50 strands at a time! We’re not exaggerating, because an average human adult will shed approximately 50-100 strands a day, without them even being aware of this disastrous number. It’s nature’s feat and we’re not going to try and surpass it.

However, problems do arise when all you hear at home is how you’ve clogged the drain with your massive hair fall problem or how you can no longer comb your hair peacefully without the comb getting stuck in some nook and crevice of your scalp. Are you afraid of ending up with bald patches that become increasingly difficult to hide from the public’s view?

Alvizia Healthcare offers some seamless ways to prevent hair fall by enlisting a couple of natural methods, requiring no surgery or laser treatment at all. Here’s a comprehensive list of what you could do:

Adequate Hair Washes

Now, we know this is too obvious to be listed as a first and foremost solution, but trust me, even in today’s progressing world, some people take hair washing too lightly. Some only bother washing their scalp in time for a special occasion or when they wish to move out of the house. Living for prolonged periods in quarantine has made everyone a bit lazy with haircare and it’s time to change that habit, effective immediately. Your hair strands, roots, and scalp region need all the care they deserve and this primarily comes with at least 2 washings per week (common for all hair types/lengths) Avoid using harsh shampoos or one with too many chemically toxic ingredients, and always, always apply conditioner after a wash.

Massaging with Oil

You might remember how during your youthful days, your grandmother would rub oil into your hair as your eyes started shutting with the smooth and relaxing motions. Well, for those of you who shed off the habit when they grew up, it’s not too late to go back to doing just the same. An oil massage, do either a day before washing or on your wash day itself helps strengthen your strands and roots and rejuvenates the scalp region with much-needed nourishment. Coconut oil has been proven by studies to affect preventing hair damage caused by harsh grooming or exposure to sun rays while helping to bind the protein in your hair. Olive oil also helps with deep conditioning activity, preventing the hair from getting dry and frizzy, and breaking. Some research also presented how it slowed down genetic hair loss in a few populations.

Indulge in Gentle Styling efforts

Oftentimes, and this is especially common among the female populations, we tend to get excited and hyped up when a festivity is nearing and go insane with our hair styling. Our fashion sense could do better without using multiple products to make our hair look supposedly good just for a day or few. The thing is, when you’re hell-bent on using as many beautification products as possible, you’re choking up your hair and scalp health, exposing it to so many foreign products at once that this weakens your roots and hair follicles. Avoid tightly wound ponytails as they also put excessive pressure on your roots.

Some Yoga poses help too

Now, this may come to you as a shocker because why in good heavens would Yoga have a connection with hair fall, right? Well, it has been observed among frequent yoga-practicians that certain Yogasana poses play a role in strengthening your hair integrity and improving its quality. To mention a few of those, we’ve got the Fish Pose, Shoulder Stand, Forward Bend, Downward Facing Dog pose, and the Kneeling pose. So maybe invest in getting yourself a yoga mat, if you’ve never done it before, and use Youtube videos to perform some easy and quick poses that help with hair fall.

High Protein Diet intake

Research scientists are hell-bent on the fact that increasing the protein content of your meals has a positive effect on hair strengthening and enhancing the functioning of keratin, the chemical that is present in your hair and nails. Participants involved in a British case study about Hair Loss reported having reduced hair fall after adding more proteins and amino acid supplements to their daily dietary patterns. Healthy choices of additives were found to be eggs, chicken, fish, dairy products (low in fat content), turkey, nuts, beans, and peas. However, currently, more research is being carried out to determine whether nutritional deficiencies have a direct correlation to hair weakening and hair loss.

Try applying an Egg Mask

Although this tradition dies away with olden village myths, it still prevails in certain households today. As mentioned before, eggs are a perfect addition to your diet as the necessary proteinaceous content for hair integrity, they also form a good source for zinc, iodine, sulfur, selenium, and phosphorous. All of these are together known to help with hair growth promotion. To prepare the mask, add egg white, a teaspoon of olive oil, and some honey to a bowl, beat these together to form a paste. Apply this right from your hair roots until the tips, letting it stay in for about 20-30 minutes after which you can wash it off in the shower.

Beetroot Juice paste

This component could play a great role in your diet and also as an external applicant. It’s a potent source of betaine, potassium, folate, manganese, vitamins C and B6. Apart from preventing hair loss, beetroot juice also acts as a detoxification agent to help keep the scalp clean, nourished, and free from toxins. All you require for this paste is the boiling of about 7 beetroot leaves ground along with the same number of henna leaves, then apply this paste for about 15-20 minutes with a gentle scrubbing and wash off in the shower.

Application of Fresh Aloe Vera

An age-old remedy for hair fall, aloe vera also helps boost hair growth, strengthening your roots right from within. As a home remedy, families also use it to help prevent dandruff issues like scalp flaking and infectious itching. What you can do is take some aloe vera extract pulp from the plant stalk into a bowl and gently apply it onto the scalp leaving it there for about 40 minutes. Let the cooling and rejuvenating sensation seep in and settle after which you can rinse it off with warm water. For promoted effects, you could repeat this twice in the same duration.

Onion Juice

As we’re all familiar with onion’s antibacterial and antiinfective properties, these could help fight off typical scalp infections like flaking and itching too. Apart from this, onion juice is rich in sulfur content and this promotes blood circulation to the hair follicles, thereby controlling hair fall. To obtain fresh onion juice, grind your onion pieces and squeeze out the juicy content in a container. Use a cotton cloth or a thick towel or a cotton ball for dipping into this juice and then apply it onto the hair. Let it soak in for about 20 minutes and then rinse off using a mild shampoo. You could try this procedure at least once every two weeks for effective results.
