 For thousands of years, sea buckthorn oil has been used as a natural remedy against various ailments. It is obtained from the leaves, berries, and seeds of the sea buckthorn plant, also known as Hippophae rhamnoides. Hippophae rhamnoides, a small shrub, is found in the northwest Himalayan region. Often referred to as the holy fruit of the Himalayas, sea buckthorn is either applied to the skin or is ingested orally. The seeds and leaves of the buckthorn weed are very rich in quercetin. Quercetin is a flavonoid, responsible for lowering blood pressure and also reducing risks of heart diseases.
